In 1993, Chaosium began publishing a line of non-game books (mostly Fiction but also Non-Fiction, such as The Book of Dzyan). Their first two such books, King of Sartar (product #4500) and Castle of Eyes (product #6000), were related to other of their game products. But they next began a line of "Call of Cthulhu® Fiction". The back cover text of The Yellow Sign and Other Stories, for example, defines the series as "an expanding collection of Cthulhu Mythos horror fiction and related topics. Call of Cthulhu® fiction focuses on single entities, concepts, or authors significant to readers and fans of H. P. Lovecraft."
