Tomb-Herd
The Tomb-Herd ("The Herd that Stand Watch") are from H.P. Lovecraft and E. Hoffmann Price, "Through the Gates of the Silver Key (fiction)", later elaborated in Ramsey Campbell's "The Church in High Street".
Description
"...The Herd that stand watch at the secret portal each tomb is known to have, and that thrive on that which groweth out of the tenants within..."

The Tomb-Herd are soft, white, immaterial creatures which are drawn through space and time to the tombs of dead wizards to feed upon their magical essence. There are cultists of Yog-Sothoth who, for unknown reasons, provide artificial "bodies" for the Tomb-Herd to possess and animate, in the form of specially-prepared statues.
