Hell-Plants (AKA Hell Plant, Hell Plants, Devil Creeper, etc.) are from Doug Lyons' scenario "The Pits of Bendal-Dolum".

Description

The seeds of the parasitic, alien Hell-Plant may be planted in the host in an unsettling variety of ways - ingested, contaminated accidentally by a drifting air-borne or water-borne seed, infested on contact with a vine when the victim is sleeping or otherwise caught unaware, or even deliberately "cursed" by an evil wizard. The circumstances under which the seed might germinate and erupt from the host's body are also varied - it may happen on death, or on certain seasons or holidays, or upon proximity or a certain distance from a designated person, place, or thing (in the case of a curse). It is possible for a skilled doctor to remove the seeds if they are successfully detected in time (via x-rays or examination, for example), or by prepared occultists who know what to look for and what spells to use to successfully remove the infestation.

Associated Mythos Elements

  • race: Tcho-Tchos, whose cultists seem likely to delight in "cursing" a victim with a Hell-Plant infestation
