Special Unit 2 (2001 series)
Summary
"Monsters are real. Deal with it!" In a world where all myths are true (except for vampires - that would be ridiculous), detectives Nick O'Malley and Kate Benson work in Special Unit 2, a secret precinct of the Chicago Police Department whose sole charge is to protect the city's citizens from "Links", a malicious paranormal species that is the missing link between man and beast; solving their cases often involves a helping of comedic sociopathic violence, not uncommonly focused on sarcastic, self-centered informant Carl the Gnome.

Ratings
MPAA Ratings
- Rated: (not rated) (equivalent to a TV-PG for mild Violence, and mild Profanity and Adult Content)
Tentacle Ratings
A rough measure of how "Lovecraftian" the work is:
- S____ (One Tentacle: Debateably Lovecraftian; has almost no direct connection to Lovecraft's work)
Only "Lovecraftian" in the Delta Green RPG sense of a secret government agency that tracks and polices monsters-of-the-week; this one does have the vaguely Lovecraftian explanation that monsters of folklore, mythology, and urban legend are "missing links" in the evolution of humans and animals. The mer-men "Links" bear a superficial resemblance to Deep Ones, and a couple of other "Links" are Tentacle Monsters and what-not.
Note: This rating is not intended as a measure of quality, merely of how closely related to Lovecraftian "Weird" fiction the work is.
