The Eltdown Shards

The Eltdown Shards is the title of a fictional book created by Richard F. Searight in his story "The Sealed Casket" in Weird Tales, March 1935. He created the book as a headnote to the story, but it was published without the headnote. Lovecraft later cited these in The Shadow out of Time and The Challenge from Beyond. "He cited the unpublished headnote in a letter to Clark Ashton Smith (c. March 1935, SL. 5.112) leading some to believe that he wrote it." (Joshi & Shultz, 2001).
