Michael E. Trout, editor of Stupefying Stories magazine died in a fire at his home, shortly after contributors Celia Abbot, Richard Black & Dale Guthurste all died in various accidents. The owner of Stupefying Stories asks the Investigators to get to the bottom of the string of deaths. The investigators soon discover that the three dead authors were making use of the services of a ghost writer, Arkham residence P. H. Valecroft to improve their stories. Visiting Valecroft, the Investigators learn that the material he was working into the dead authors stories (And the stories of other authors as well.) originated in his dreams. While talking with Valecroft, cultists attack and attempt to kill him. Fighting off the attackers, will allow the Investigators to find the real culprit, a Miskatonic University Professor turned cultist who is trying to bring into the world the Mythos deity he found in Egypt and whose dreams have been unknowingly tapped by Valecroft.
