Comments / Trivia

Arkham Terror is a variation on Hamster Games' Engel Matrix Games (a formula for a style of game, not a specific game.) It is not necessary to have any other game to play this game.

Hamster Press has also published Arkham Terror: Experimental Therapy, a very similar game with more of a boardgame aspect.

Unlike most other Cthulhu Mythos-themed games, which treat insanity as an amusing lark, Arkham Terror takes an approach closer to real-world psychological therapy.

While this game bills itself as a role-playing game, it seems to be using the psychiatric definition of role-playing rather than the tabletop gaming industry definition: there is no gamemaster, and characters don't have statistics. Actions are resolved by discussion with other players.

Not to be confused with Arkham Horror, an unrelated game.
