French Prime Minister André Tardieu decides to withdraw the remaining French troops from the Rheinland. They depart by June 30.

The Bank for International Settlements (BIS) is established as an international organization of central banks which "fosters international monetary and financial cooperation" in Basel, Switzerland, with representative offices in Hong Kong and Mexico City.
