In January 2009, Pagan announced this book as their "next big project." It was described in this press release as "a sourcebook for playing Call of Cthulhu adventures on the American Frontier during the days of the Wild West. Six-guns and Shoggoths!" The release suggested that at that time textual content was largely done and Pagan would shortly be comissioning artists and layout.

The product was mentioned briefly in an interview with Adam Scott Glancy in mid-2010, suggesting that it is still an upcoming product for Pagan Publishing.

Comments / Trivia

This product was one of two products (the other being The Mysteries of Mesoamerica) originally intended to be designed and produced by Blair Reynolds' one-man company RM308. In February 2008, Reynold's released a press release stating that due to overwhelming workload as well as his general disillusionment with the gaming industry's dumbing down and dilution of the Cthulhu Mythos, RM308 would not publish game material. Subsequent to this, the book on Mesoamerica was completed and released by Pagan Publishing -- the same is seemingly planned for the Wild West book.

Blair Reynolds' press release refers to the book as "Mysteries of the Old West, Volume I", suggesting that further books in this setting were (and possibly still are) planned.
