January 31 – Trains begin using the new elevated tracks and platform at Toronto Union Station.

July 28 – In the Canadian Federal election, the Liberal Party are ousted by the Conservative Party led by Richard B. Bennett, who had campaigned vehemently against the Liberal's attitudes towards the ongoing effects of the Great Depression.

August 7 - Richard Bedford Bennett becomes Canada's eleventh prime minister.
