Leng Spiders (AKA "Spiders of Leng") are first mentioned in H.P. Lovecraft's "The Dream-Quest of Unknown Kadath (fiction)".
Description
There were scenes of old wars, wherein Leng's almost-humans fought with the bloated purple spiders of the neighbouring vales.
— H.P. Lovecraft's "The Dream-Quest of Unknown Kadath (fiction)"
In their original form, Lovecraft gave the Leng Spiders only the vaguest of descriptions: bloated purple spiders of the Dreamlands which warred against the Men of Leng on the Plateau of Leng.
In the Call of Cthulhu (RPG), the Leng Spiders are further detailed as intelligent and large as ponies, worshiping Atlach-Nacha.
