Ratings
MPAA Ratings
- Rated: (not rated) (perhaps equivalent to a PG or a PG-13 for Violence and Profanity?)
Tentacle Ratings
A rough measure of how "Lovecraftian" the work is:
- SS___ (Two Tentacles: Barely Lovecraftian; could be a very loose adaptation)
Not exactly a "Lovecraftian" film in the sense of being based on any of Lovecraft's work or containing references to his creations, though some viewers may find the location and feverish, surreal atmosphere suggestive of Lovecraft's work (an "Eldritch Location" film). Mysterious broadcasts, a gloomy ending, and a freakish and surreal tentacle-monster at the bottom of an inexplicable well might also suggest some Lovecraftian elements.
Note: This rating is not intended as a measure of quality, merely of how closely related to Lovecraftian "Weird" fiction the work is.

- Brian M. Sammons at Innsmouth Free Press, (link) - "...An amazing little gem of a movie... quick but, at the same time moody and atmospheric, joy ride of horror that doesn’t overstay its welcome. There are direct correlations at the end to the cold, cosmic dread of H.P. Lovecraft. So, yes, it is Lovecraftian and fans of the man from Providence should seek this one out at once to see an example of new Mythos horror done right...."
