Maintenance and To Do
Looking to volunteer in the Board Games corner of the CthulhuWiki? Here's what needs to be done!
1. Update Unreleased Board Games
If any of the games on the Unreleased Board Games page have been released:
- Verify that the existing information is accurate.
- Update the game's page with as much information as possible
- Remove the 'Unreleased Board Games' category from the game's page
- Move the game information from the Unreleased Board Games page to the Board Games page, editing to account for different columns
- If it's an Expansion, remove "Unreleased" from the link to the expansion from the core game page.
2. Provide Missing Information
We're looking for official publisher information from the publisher's web site and the physical game or photos thereof. Much as I respect BoardGameGeek, they shouldn't be considered an official source of information.
If you own a physical copy of any of the board games on this wiki:
- Replace missing information (indicated by a '?') with the correct information. Use "None" if the game just doesn't have information for that field.
- Review existing information and correct as needed.
- Check the links section. There should be links (when available) for the game page on the publisher's site and on BoardGameGeek.
- If the description doesn't come from the back of the box or a CthulhuWiki contributor, please transcribe the description from the back of the box.
- Check to see if it should be added to any categories that it's not in (such as "Solo Board Games.")
3. Add More Board Games
There are always more Cthulhu-themed board games - here's what to do with them:
Released Core Games:
- Create a page for the game using the Board Game Style Guide.
- Add the game to the "Board Games" list on the Board Games page.
Unreleased Core Games:
- Create a page for the game using the Board Game Style Guide.
- Add the Category:Unreleased Board Games to the game's main page.
- Add the game to the list on the Unreleased Board Games page.
Released Expansions:
- Create a page for the expansion using the Board Game Style Guide.
- Add the expansion to the "Board Game Expansions" list on the Board Games page.
- Increment the core game's expansion count on the Board Games page by one.
- Add a link to the expansion to the core game's page, in the Expansion(s) section.
Unreleased Expansions:
- Create a page for the expansion using the Board Game Style Guide.
- Add the expansion to the list on the Unreleased Board Games page.
- Add a link to the expansion to the core game's page, in the Expansion(s) section. Put "(Unreleased)" after the link.
Additionally, use the other board game subcategories as appropriate: Category:Miniatures Games, Category:Print-and-Play Games, Category:Print-on-Demand, Category:Solo Board Games.
The following board games still need pages (well, check them first to see if they belong on the wiki at all). Remember to use the Board Game Style Guide.
Arkham Terror: Experimental Therapy
A Study in Emerald (Boardgame 1st Edition)
A Study in Emerald (Boardgame 2nd Edition)
For consistency, Cthulhu Wars and Cthulhu Wars: Onslaught Two should have pages for each of their 21 expansions. Or at least some of them, some of them count as "we don't make separate pages for every little Kickstarter reward". But I don't feel like it. Feeling up the the challenge? Gopher it!
4. Not Unspeakable
Non-English editions haven't been touched. Other languages have only been mentioned if the game originated in a non-English language.
These have some mention of non-English editions:
5. More Tentacles
Know an interesting piece of trivia about a game? Have a link to a great review? See something that's just plain wrong? These pages are a community effort, make them better by contributing!
