Dedicated to Robert Bloch. The title is a spoof on Petersons Bird Watching Field Guides.
Relative Sizes chart features a photograph of Sandy Petersen, Tom Sullivan and Lynn Willis as the human comparisons to the Monsters of the Cthulhu Mythos. Winner of the 1989 Origins Award for Best Graphic Presentation.
A follow-up field guide was published in the following year, S. Petersen's Field Guide to Creatures of the Dreamlands.
