May 20 - The Chrysler Building in New York, succeeds the Bank of Manhattan Trust Building as the tallest building in the world and the Eiffel Tower as the tallest structure (It still remains the world's tallest steel-supported brick building).
July 7 - Building of the Boulder Dam (now known as Hoover Dam) is started.
