Murder of Augustus Darcy

Augustus Samuel Darcy was born at Thetford, Norfolk in November 1897, the son of a solicitor. his sister Ethel was born three years later. While at school at Ely, Cambridgeshire he met his lifelong friend and literary executor, Amery Greville.

After service in the Great War, Darcy graduated in History from the University of Oxford and worked as a freelance journalist in London. A talented but sadly unrecognised writer, he kept company with many of the leading occultists of the age including Aleister Crowley, Rollo Ahmed and Dion Fortune.

Darcy was himself a practicing magician and a leading member of an occult organisation known only as The Brotherhood. In 1933 they commissioned him to write a guide for members visiting the capital. In the course of his research, Darcy discovered dark forces gathering in London and predicted a Magical War. A few months later he was dead. The cause of his death was never established.
