Welcome to the YogWiki (formerly the YSDC Wiki)

The YogWiki is a community resource that was originally created by members of the (now sadly deceased) Yog-Sothoth.com web form, for material relating to the Cthulhu Mythos and Lovecraftian games and media. This resurrected version is made possible thanks to a consortium of three TTRPG micro-publishers: Sentinel Hill Press, Cthulhu Reborn, and Shoggoth dot net. Hosting for the YogWiki is kindly provided by the Cthulhu Eternal website.

Wikis thrive off user contributions. At present, the YogWiki is a static copy of the final "Essential Saltes" of the YSDC repository, however there are future plans to re-open the Wiki for new editors and contributions. Watch this space (and our social media) for a future announcement.

Parties Involved in This Rescue Initiative

A conglomerate of different TTRPG folks have worked to bring this wiki back online. Here's a quick summary of who's who.

	Cthulhu Eternal is a Free and Open TTRPG engine based on a streamlined version of the D100 mechanics. Inspired by the Delta Green RPG created by Arc Dream Publishing, Cthulhu Eternal has been variously described as an "Old School Cthulhu (OSC)" game and a "Cthulhu Heartbreaker". Cthulhu Eternal has been purposefully designed to cater to a much broader variety of time periods than usually covered by Lovecraftian games: to date there have been 12 different era-customised versions of the game released. Each ruleset is published under the WotC OGL license as open content which means anyone can use it to create and self-publish their own scenarios, campaigns, or even original TTRPGs without the need to pay anyone a license fee. Simple conversion guidelines exist to play any published Call of Cthulhu 1920s scenario using the Jazz Age edition of Cthulhu Eternal ruleset.
	Sentinel Hill Press is a small-scale publisher best known for The Arkham Gazette, a periodical publication that explores the length and breadth of the (fictional) Miskatonic Valley, providing TTRPG-relevant articles to help GM's bring it to life in their games. In addition to the Gazette, SHP also publishes other helpful guidebooks and references to assist gamers.
	Shoggoth.Net is a website dedicated to the promotion and support of the Cthulhu Mythos & Weird Fiction. From Literature, Gaming, Product Reviews, Comedy, Poetry, etc we try to have it all. We’ve been around since the late 1990’s, Shoggoth.Net's motto has always been "doing our best to bring you our worst".
	Cthulhu Reborn is a blog/micro-press publisher and originator of the Cthulhu Eternal TTRPG. It has created a number of product lines based off the CE ruleset including Convicts & Cthulhu (horror in the early penal settlements of Australia), Eldritch Horizon (near-future Sci-Fi horror), Miskatonic Mysteries (old school Lovecraft), Lost Masterpieces (rescued unpublished classics by some of the great writers of Lovecraftian TTRPGs), and Australian Aeons (discrete scenarios set in Oz at different times).

Policy on Generative AI Content

The historical content of the YogWiki inherited from YSDC is free from AI-generated content by virtue of the fact that it was authored prior to the popularization of GenAI tools.

For new submissions and edits, the policy is zero GenAI content. Our rationale is simple: reference sites like the YogWiki need to be reliable and factual. Current Large Language Models simply cannot be trusted to create such content without extensive human checking, at which point a human-authored and verified version could have been produced instead. We want the latter not the former.

Some pages have been categorized for "cleanup" - at this time, these are mostly just blank "stubs" waiting for some detail to flesh them out. Many such pages are for monsters - you can help improve the wiki by adding some detail to such pages such as descriptions, quotes, "keeper notes" (for suggested ways to use the monster or other element in a game or fan fiction), and organizing the pages by applying a style guide where appropriate. (A tip for the monster pages: posting a "Monster Make-Over" discussion about the monster in the YSDC forums is typically a great way to "crowd-source" information, ideas, and suggestions for monsters!)
