Tentacle Ratings
A rough measure of how "Lovecraftian" the work is:
- SSs__ (Two and a Half Tentacles: Lovecraftian)
The anthology's component stories vary in how faithfully they are adapted from Lovecraft's work from recognizable adaptations, to misguided pastiches. In this case, it's a very loose adaptation of one of Lovecraft's less "Lovecraftian" stories, with a whole bunch of extra (and even less Lovecraftian) stuff tossed in.
Note: This rating is not intended as a measure of quality, merely of how closely related to Lovecraftian "Weird" fiction the work is.
Reviews

- Y.Whateley: "The Cold" is a bit of a mess: it takes "Cold Air (fiction)" as a starting point, adds a romantic subplot, a serial-killer subplot, a newspaper investigation, and ends up with a whole that feels like a bit less than the sum of its parts. (The Night Gallery treatment of the same story, which also adds a romantic subplot, is superior in almost every way....)
