The novel, ''The Slayer of Souls'' (1920), is not included in this collection because Joshi considers it "an actual novel and not a succession of short stories" (unlike ''In Search of the Unknown'' or ''Police!!!''). Nevertheless, ''The Slayer of Souls'' mentions a city called "Yian" (probably the source of "Yian-Ho") and a people called the "Tchortchas" (who, while there is no literary evidence connecting them to the Tcho-Tcho People, may be considered to be cognates by speculative readers).
