==Summary==
In the Eastern Marches of the Germanic Empire, in the woods north of Vienna, the investigators are traveling to join some warrior-monk missionaries in the village of Laa, an outpost on the eastern border of the Germanic Empire, on a mission to convert and pacify the heathen Magyars further east. The investigators might be soldiers, missionaries, guides, etc., and at least one investigator carries a letter of recommendation from the Church. Unfortunately, the monks never arrive at Laa, and the investigators are soon faced with threats from all around by the Magyar heathens, the local Slavs and Germans, and rumors of twisted "dwarves" and repulsive "maggots" among the mysterious forests, in the Black Hills, and around a mysterious Tomb in the surrounding countryside.

===Synopsis===
In the Eastern Marches of the Germanic Empire, in the woods north of Vienna, the investigators are traveling to join some warrior-monk missionaries in the village of Laa, an outpost on the eastern border of the Germanic Empire, on a mission to convert and pacify the heathen Magyars further east. The investigators might be soldiers, missionaries, guides, etc., and at least one investigator carries a letter of recommendation from the Church. Unfortunately, the monks never arrive at Laa, and the investigators are soon faced with threats from all around by the Magyar heathens, the local Slavs and Germans, and rumors of strange "locusts", twisted "dwarves" and repulsive "maggots" among the mysterious forests, in the Black Hills, and around a mysterious Tomb in the surrounding countryside.

The investigators are faced with a three-part mystery: first, they must find out what happened to the missing monks, and learn more about a mysterious black stone, while learning more about ominous local rumors about a sinister [[Dark One]] and terrifying [[Mi-go]] which have been terrorizing the countryside, looking for the stone. In the second part, the investigators must leave the village and encounter the Magyars. In the final part, the investigators descend into The Tomb to confront the horrors that have been oppressing the countryside, and meet their fates.

"The Tomb" is an initial incursion into the grim territories of [[Cthulhu: Dark Ages]]. The scenario is historically set on November 1, 998A.D. and the days following. It transports the keeper and the players to the eastern marches of the Germanic Empire (present-day [[Hungary]]), in the thickly-wooded hills to the north of Vienna. The plot is generic enough to fit other times and places, as the keeper desires.
