This scenario was originally meant to be part of [[Shadows Over Scotland]] but was subsequently separated out when the book ran over-long in layout. Cubicle 7 plans to publish it as a standalone PDF. Essentially, Ballad is a very dark, very dangerous little one-shot that was to be a counterpoint to many of the longer, investigative scenarios in Shadows Over Scotland. The situation is desperate, the time is short, and the investigators are horribly out-gunned, if you will. The horror is the thing here and the insignificance of the characters is brought to light.
