Late one night while working in a Paris medical school, the investigator gets lost in the halls and stumbles into an area where samples of dangerous diseases are stored. The investigator finds someone going through the samples with a microscope, working alone and violating several safety protocols. The person claims to be a Japanese student of the school working for Dr. Jarmon. If the investigator confronts the person, he knocks over a flaming Bunsen burner and flees. The investigator must then explain the affair to the faculty or face disciplinary action.

Likewise, the investigator gains some familiarity with the plague germs Ishii is after, setting the stage for a similar confrontation later in the campaign. The historical Shiro Ishii studied medicine in both France and Germany, so the scenario may also take place in the latter country.}}
