For many years, Chaosium offered customers the opportunity to purchase "Doctoral Diplomas" from Miskatonic University as novelty items. Also available for sale was a similar, but more elaborate, [[Miskatonic U. Master of Arts Diploma]].

While Bachelors degree diplomas (such as that packaged with the [[Miskatonic U. Graduate Kit]]) were sold as blank props, onto which an individual's name could be written in by hand, the higher degree diplomas were sold as custom items. Customers would provide their details to Chaosium, who would then have them calligraphically written onto the diploma. The finished prop would be mailed out.

It is unknown how many of these diplomas were produced; there is currently no scan or photograph of a sample item available.
