Meanwhile, Says Fong Lee and his forces fight back encroaching Chinese, Japanese, and Russian forces. Lee empties the lake to reveal a sunken city, where the Ransomer lies sleeping in his tomb. The sorcerer intends to steal the skin from the Ransomer's back and ask the Celestial Flayer to graft it on. But he inadvertently frees a colony of Ghouls from the Empire of Shadows, as well, and they begin clashing with the Shen De (Deep Ones), also after the Ransomer. The Watchers implore the investigators to agree to undergo the Arcana of the Five Agonies, rituals that will give them the mystical power to defeat Lee once and for all&mdash;at the cost of their shadows.}}<br />
