This is the race of creatures that will succeed humanity. Whether they evolve after the End Times and the death of human race, or whether humanity has simply died out and the Old Ones have departed is unknown.

It is not clear whether the Coleopterans are actual man sized beetles or a swarm of small intelligent beetles. Sometime in the future they will be taken over by the Yithians and left to die in the distant past. They are said to be able to develop technology rapidly, and may have a hive-mind mentality. At what point in the Coleopterans future they will be taken over is unsure, they could have already built a civillisation or even reached space by that time.
