<!-- [[Image:filename.jpg|thumb|200px|right|AltText]]-->
Gamwell is an out-of-the-way town located west of Boston, halfway between Boston and Albany.
In the 1920s, Gamwell is little more than a straightforward and simple gas stop on the way to somewhere more notable, consisting of a collection of sprawling farms serviced by a boarding house, a town hall, a police station, a fire station, an attorney's office, a newspaper office, a town library, and several shops, including a general store and a cattle feed and farm supplies store.

=== Haggarty's Boarding House ===
1920s: This neat and scrubbed building is run by a friendly couple, Hank and Edith Haggarty. It is a clean place: no chewing tobacco, no alcohol, no smoking, no unmarried couples, and no nonsense. The investigators can get rooms here, but any nocturnal comings and goings will soon see them asked to leave.

=== Dodge Brothers, Attorneys-at-Law===
1920s: Reginald, Walter, and Herbert Dodge, three respectable gentlemen, are Cornthwaite‘s representatives.

=== Gamwell Town Hall ===
1920s: A wooden edifice where council meetings are held, and where local records are kept by the dusty little clerk, Nigel Tellings.

=== The Gamwell Gazette ===
1920s: The office of Gamwell's weekly ("Gamwell Gazette: established 1887") is small and cluttered. The Gazette's middle-aged Editor Stan Artemis, who sets the type and puts the newspaper together. The investigators are welcome to look through back issues of the paper, which are kept in ratty cardboard boxes in a back room of the newspaper's offices.

=== Gamwell Cemetary ===
1920s: Arthur Grimstock is the graveyard's the caretaker and gardener.

=== Sheriff's Office ===
1920s: Occupied by Sheriff William Whitford, a lean, old, conservative, humorless, suspicious, aloof lawman in his '50s or '60s, who doesn't like intrusions or trouble in his jurisdiction, and who probably won't like investigators poking around.

=== Gamwell Public Library ===
1920s: The librarian is Susan Arwell, a woman in her 30s, who is writing a history of the town. The bizarrely-stocked library has a scattering of books of all types, but a disproportionate amount are about anthropology and archaeology donated by an archaeologist who lived in the town.

=== The Fitzgerald Estate ===
1920s: The ill-kept, titular site of the scenario "[[The Crack'd and Crook'd Manse]]", surrounded by a rusting iron gate, spiked stone wall, and tangled undergrowth. The house has been inhabited a few times since it was built between the 1800s and the 1920s, but generally not for very long, and has assumed a bad reputation among the locals as the local haunted house, and looks the part.

<!-- Optional. This is a good place to include non-canon and controversial aspects of the Location's mythos. Suggested Alternative Theories include: Derleth's elemental scheme; pseudo-science interpretation; "fanon" interpretations; unofficial humorous or eccentric takes on the mythos like Lovecraft's family tree; identification with "Real Life" mythological, religious, folklore, natural, and historical phenomena; rumor and speculation contribute some flexibility and ambiguity to the mythos.
