The Cult of the Sand Bat is a small native Australian group that worship a great creature known as the Father of All Bats which they belive fought with the Rainbow Snake at the beginning of the world. Unbeknown to the majority of the cult, the Father of All Bats is actually an avatar of Nyarlathotep similar to the Haunter of the Dark.

The group had always been small and localized and by the twentieth century the cult was virtually extinct. In 1921 the cult was resurrected by the psychologist and sorcerer; Robert Huston. During this time the cult gained a small following amoung the slum dwellers of Melbourne, Port Hedland and Sydney. After Huston's presumed demise the cult has once again disbanded.

==Practices==
The cult's high priests conducted ritual sacrifices using eculiptus clubs studded with bat teeth. Such clubs are often dipped in a rare poison distilled from rabid bats the cult has captured. Many of the cult rituals required the victim go mad and die as an effect of the poison rather than being killed outright. Under Huston's leadership the cult showed interest in the ruins of an ancient city once inhabited by the Great Race of Yith. Members often painted the mark of the Father of All Bats onto their back using charcoal.
