''Challenge'' began life as the ''Journal of the Travellers Aid Society'' (JTAS) a magazine published by GDW to support it's Traveller science fiction RPG. The magazine was renamed ''Challenge'' from issue 25 (With JTAS continuing as an internal section with it's own cover until issue 36.) to allow it to support GDWs other role-playing games. With time the magazines coverage widened to include support for other companies science fiction RPGs, reviews, fiction and a long running series of scenarios for Call of Cthulhu.
